Doris J. Meyer, 75, of
Mendota died Feb. 16, 2013,
in her residence.
Services will be at 11 a.m.
Wednesday in St. John's
Lutheran Church, Mendota,
with the Rev. Dale Peterson
officiating. Burial will be at
Clarion Lutheran Cemetery,
Clarion Township.
Visitation is 4-7 p.m.
Tuesday in Merritt Funeral
Home, Mendota.
She was born Feb. 27,
1937, in Mendota to Lester
and Hilda (Kaminky) Kramer.
She married Otto Meyer on
Jan. 21, 1967, in the TeDeum
Chapel of St. John's Lutheran
Church, Mendota.
She graduated from
Mendota High School in
1955 and was a graduate of
Illinois State University with
a degree in education. She
was a substitute teacher in
the Mendota Grade School
system and operated a preschool
in Mendota for many
years. She was a leader of
the Depression and Bipolar
Support Alliance, where she
was an advocate and facilitator
for bipolar illness and
recovery. She also worked
for North Central Behavioral
Health Services in La Salle.
She was a member of St.
John's Lutheran Church and
the Rebecca Circle and served
on the church council.
She is survived by her husband;
two sons, Gary (Becky)
Meyer and Jim (Michele)
Meyer, both of Mendota;
two daughters, Sheri (John)
Bowne of Mendota and Kelly
(Brad) Settle of St. Charles;
11 grandchildren; three greatgrandchildren;
and one sister,
Kathryn (Bert) Butler of
Mendota.
She was preceded in death
by her parents and one brother,
Lester Kramer.
