Dorothy J. Brown, 74, of Troy Grove died Jan. 11, 2009, at her brother's residence in Grafton. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota, with the Rev. Dave Dolan officiating. Burial will be at Troy Grove Cemetery. Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. She was born Aug. 15, 1934, in Hillsboro to Thomas and Esther (Crabtree) White. She married Donald Brown on Nov. 26, 1951, in Osceola, Ark. Mrs. Brown worked as a secretary for Troy Grove Stone Quarry for 20 years. She is survived by three sons, Tom (Lori) Brown of Cherry, Don (Mary) Brown Jr. of Hollowayville and Todd Brown of La Salle; two daughters, Teresa (Joseph) Knaff of Troy Grove and Paula Brown of McCordsville, Ind.; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Benjamin (Karen) White of Grafton; and two sisters, MaryJane White of Hillsboro and Mildred Crum of Rushville. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1997, one daughter in infancy, her parents and two brothers. Memorials may be directed to the family.
