Obituary
Dorothy E. Copper, 92, of Mendota died Jan. 8, 2016, in Heritage Health, Mendota.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in First Presbyterian Church, Mendota with the Rev. Susan Presley officiating. Burial will be at Restland Cemetery, Mendota.
Visitation will be 4 - 6 p.m. Friday at Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota.
Dorothy was born Dec. 28, 1923, in Sommerville, Mass. to John and Elizabeth (Miller) Mellor. Dorothy was raised in Sommerville and graduated from secretarial college in Boston. She met her husband, Daniel Copper, at the USO in Boston during World War II and they were married on Dec. 16, 1945. They moved to Connersville, Ind., and then to Mendota in 1952.
Dorothy was employed by Conco in Mendota before her retirement.
She is survived by two sons, Craig (Kathy) Copper and Daniel (Paula) Copper; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert (Marjorie) Mellor.
She was preceded in death by her husband on Feb. 4, 2011; one son, Kevin; and one brother, John Mellor.
Memorials may be directed to First Presbyterian Church or "A Promise of Love" small dog rescue in Beloit, Wis.
