Obituary

Dorothy L. Ehlbeck, 88, of Mendota died March 25, 2009, in Mendota Lutheran Home after a short stay. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in First Presbyterian Church, Mendota, with the Rev. Dale Dykstra officiating. Burial will be at Restland Cemetery, Mendota. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Friday in Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota. She was born June 25, 1920, in Ophir Township to Clyde and Elizabeth (Roux) Wise. She married Wilfred Ehlbeck on June 8, 1941, in Prairie Center. She was a member and past deacon of First Presbyterian Church. She also was a member of Women of the Moose and past president of Mendota Federated Women's Club. She and her husband moved to Mendota from Sublette in 1964. She worked in the cafeteria at Northbrook School in Mendota for 16 years. She is survived by four daughters, Ann (Robert) Althaus of Sublette, Cynthia (Henry) Gerdes of Amboy, Peggy (Bart) Bartrug of Ocala, Fla., and Judy (Ricky) Hernandez of Collinsville; nine grandchildren; six greatgrandchildren; two sisters, Esther Barr of Mesa, Ariz., and Lois Miller of Ottawa; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, three brothers and two sisters. Memorials may be directed to First Presbyterian Church or the donor's choice.
