Dorothy Jean Wallace-Kidd, 93, of Troy Grove, passed away Saturday, May 27, 2023 at Heritage Health, Mendota.

Graveside services will be held on July 22, 2023 at 1:30 p.m. at Troy Grove Cemetery with Deacon John Murphy officiating. Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota is handling arrangements.

Dorothy was born November 19, 1929 in Troy Grove to John and Uvanna (Brandtner) Wallace. She was later adopted by Ruth and C.C. Kidd after her mother passed away when she was 6 months old. She contracted polio as a small child that gave her limited abilities.

Dorothy attended Troy Grove school through the 8th grade. She was a caretaker for many children and for her elderly relatives including Ruth, C.C. and Marguerite Kidd.

Dorothy is survived by several nieces and nephews including her guardian Lori Sondgeroth.

She was preceded in death by both sets of her parents and her ten siblings Margaret (Wallace) Branson, Evelyn (Wallace) McLaughlin, Marshall Kidd, Oliver Kidd, Evelyn (Kidd) Simpson Osmundson, infant Lester Kidd, Gladys (Kidd) McDonald, Warren Kidd, Marguerite (Kidd) Lyons and Mable (Kidd) Edgcomb.

Memorials may be directed to the family for a memorial to be established.
