Duane H. Schiefelbein, 74, of Mendota died April 17, 2010, in Mendota Community Hospital. Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday in Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota, with the Rev. Dale Peterson officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation is 10-11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Mr. Schiefelbein was born Sept. 26, 1935, in Barron, Wis., to Harold and Jane (Hansen) Schiefelbein. He married Nancy Wood on Jan. 6, 1957, in Mendota. He served with the U.S. Army. He owned and operated Pace Pest Patrol for 30 years. He was a volunteer firefighter with Mendota Fire Department and a past member of Mendota Moose Lodge. He is survived by his wife; two sons, Kevin (Cinthia) Schiefelbein of Mendota and David Schiefelbein of Mendota; two daughters, Sara Schiefelbein of Mendota and Susan Mash of Carefree, Ariz.; five grandchildren; and one sister, Sandy (James) Mahar of Amboy. He was preceded in death by his parents and one halfbrother, Keith Hansen. Memorials may be directed to the donors choice.
