Obituary

Dudley J. Jones, 82, of Mendota
died Dec. 26, 2014, in his residence.
A Mass of Christian burial will be at
10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Holy Cross Church,
Mendota, with the Rev. Tom Otto officiating.
Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Mendota.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday in Merritt
Funeral Home, Mendota.
He was born Oct. 21, 1932, in West Brooklyn
to George and Sophia (Hoerner) Jones. He married
Marjorie Boyle on Oct. 19, 1957, in Holy
Cross Church.
He was a member of Holy Cross Church and
a church usher for 55 years. He graduated from
Paw Paw High School in 1950. He served in
the U.S. Army. He was employed by Wayside
Press and also Meyers Furniture, both in Mendota.
He was later employed by Don's Furniture
in Ottawa before his retirement. He was a member
of Elks Lodge 1212. He enjoyed gardening
and doing yard work.
He is survived by his wife; two daughters,
Anita (C.J. Robinson) LaShonse of Mendota
and Lorraine (Daniel) Gasbarro of Glen Ellyn;
two sons, Gary (Zuzana) Jones of Carpentersville
and Greg (Lydia) Jones of Henry; seven
grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and
two sisters, Eleanora Dinges of Mendota and
Betty Jane Wilhelm of West Brooklyn.
He was preceded by one grandson, Brian;
one brother and three sisters.
Memorials may be directed to Holy Cross
Church, St. Jude's Research Hospital or the donor's
choice.
