Edward Vogler Easter, 84, of Riverside, Calif., and formerly of Mendota, died Dec. 6, 2007, at Air Force Village West Retirement Community, Riverside. A graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Restland Cemetery, Mendota, with the Rev. Larry Sheaves officiating. Military rites will be accorded by VFW Post 4079. Arrangements are by Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota. Mr. Easter was born Aug. 8, 1923, in Mendota to Irving and Hedwig (Vogler) Easter. He married Joyce Kehm in 1946. He lived in Mendota prior to moving to Sandwich. He began his military service during World War II and joined the Marine Corps in 1946 where he served with distinction prior to his retirement as a lieutenant colonel in 1969. He then worked for the city of Burbank, Calif., in several senior management capacities for 16 years, retiring to Rancho Bernardo, Calif., in 1985. He had a bachelor?s degree from California State University, Fresno. He is survived by his wife, Joyce; one daughter, Pamela Easter-Miller; one grandson; one niece and nephew; and a grandnephew and grandniece. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Barbara Ann.
