Edwin "Ed" Brandt, 54, of Mendota died Aug. 20, 2016, in his residence along with his dog and longtime companion Chico.
A private family service will be at 7 p.m. Friday in Merritt Funeral Home with the Rev. Kent Svendsen officiating. Burial will be at Restland Cemetery.
There will be no visitation.
Edwin was born June 6, 1962, in Mendota to Richard E. and Delores (Spitz) Brandt.
He owned and operated Ed Brandt's Custom Carpentry for many years. He was a member of Zion United Methodist Church, Mendota and was a 1980 graduate of Mendota High School. He enjoyed listening to blues music, painting, woodworking, trains and riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle.
He is survived by his father of Mendota; his brother Rick (Linda) Brandt of Mendota; two stepsons David (Christine) Ridley of Peru and Jeremy (Janesa) Ridley of Beaver Dam, WI.; five step grandchildren; nephews Jon (Megan) Brandt and Cris Brandt, both of Ottawa; niece, Tiffanie Gottschalk of Coal City; three great-nieces; one great-nephew; and several aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his mother in 2014 and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
Memorials may be directed to Mendota Lutheran Home or the donor's choice.
