Edwin H. Jackson, 94, of rural Mendota
died Jan. 5, 2014, in his home.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m.
Monday in Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota, with
the Rev. Sandy Smith officiating. Burial will be
at Troy Grove Cemetery with military honors by
Mendota VFW Council 4079.
There will be no visitation.
Edwin was born Aug. 20, 1920, in Triumph to
Andrew and Lizzie (Fessler) Jackson.
He was a self-employed electrician and sold
homegrown popcorn. He served in the US Army
during World War II, was at Omaha Beach and
was awarded a Purple Heart.
He is survived by nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three brothers,
Wilbur, John, and Melvin; and two sisters, Ruth
Gustavson and Minnie Straw.
Memorials may be directed to the donor's
choice.
