Obituary

Eileen Y. Swanlund, 87, of Normal and formerly of LaMoille, passed away on February 26, 2021 at OSF St. Joseph's Hospital in Bloomington, IL surrounded by her loving family.

A private family funeral service will be held on March 16, 2021 at the Community United Methodist Church, LaMoille with Pastor David Jungnickel officiating. Burial at Union Cemetery in LaMoille will follow. Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota is assisting the family.

Eileen was born on February 13, 1934 in LaMoille to Kenneth and Treasie (Wirth) Einsele. She married Scott A. Swanlund on June 7, 1953 in LaMoille.

Eileen was adored by her family, her friends, and her church. She enjoyed reading, and was always up for going out for ice cream. She showed her love for family and friends by sending cards for every occasion and sharing the many "goodies" she baked. She maintained a positive outlook through all the trials of her life, and never failed to see the good in people. She was so very proud of her family, and experienced no greater joy than spending time with them. Her church was also a very important part of her life. She was a long-standing member of the Community United Methodist Church and was involved with many groups and activities. Most recently, she was a member of the women's Love Circle group. She spent several years as a choir member and especially enjoyed organ music during worship.

Eileen is survived by one daughter Debbie (Don) Henderson and one son Mark (Melodie) Swanlund; two grandsons, Aaron (Amy) Henderson and Paul (Ashley) Swanlund; two granddaughters, Christine (Rodney) Fundell and Teresa (Shane Seesengood) Yousef; six great grandchildren, Traven Henderson, Reid and Blake Henderson, Leena Yousef, Ethan Swanlund and Aiden Swanlund and one brother-in-law Donald (Beverly) Swanlund and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Scott A Swanlund, grandson Michael Swanlund and two sisters, Donna Jean Kearns and Mary Ann Hubbard Bullington.

Memorials may be directed to Community United Methodist Church or LaMoille Ambulance Service.
