Elaine was born June 22, 1932 in Mendota to Jacob and Mary (Witte) Eichorn. She graduated from Mendota High School in 1950. She entered the Sacred Heart Convent of the Dominican Sisters but God had a different calling for her to return to Mendota and raise a family. Elaine married Ken Galloway in May of 1955 and they raised 4 children: Karen (Torchia-Davis), Kent (Robbi) Galloway, Michael (Shirley) Galloway and Mark (Karen) Galloway.
Elaine worked 5 years as a telephone operator for General Telephone and Electronics Corporation (GTE). After the early years of being a dedicated Mom, she began working as a Nurses Aid at the Mendota Community Hospital. She worked there for 20 years. Elaine then worked 15 years doing Home Health Care. She truly loved taking care of people and bringing them comfort and praying with them. She had volunteered for many years praying the rosary for the residents at Heritage Health of Mendota.
She was a proud and loving grandmother of 9 grandchildren: Matt (Nicole) Torchia, Angie Partridge, Marie Torchia, Sam (Brooke) Torchia, Jill (Nathan) O'Neall, Brandon (Vanessa) Galloway, Janae (Ryan) Squires, Michelle (Matt) Dilday and Lauren Galloway. Elaine had 11 great grandchildren and one on the way.
To cherish her memory are her sons, Kent (Robbi) Galloway of Alta Loma, CA., Mike (Shirley) Galloway of Villisca, IA. and Mark (Karen) Galloway of Dalzell, IL. Her sister Leatrice Hitchins of El Paso, TX., her sister-in-law Joan Eichorn of Mendota; son-in-law Larry Davis of Benson, AZ. and many nieces and nephews.
Elaine was preceded in death by her brothers: Jim Eichorn, Bob Eichorn and Keith Eichorn and her daughter Karen Torchia-Davis.
We will always carry her memory in our hearts. Heaven gained a beautiful angel.
