Obituary

Elaine Wamhoff, 88, of LaMoille died April 6, 2012, in her residence. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Community United Methodist Church, LaMoille, with the Rev. Sang Myung Park officiating. Interment of ashes at Greenfield Cemetery, LaMoille, will be at a later date. Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Tuesday in the church. Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota provided the arrangements. She was born May 4, 1923, in Arlington to Roy J. and Elsie (Scriba) Meisel. She married Glen "Barney" Wamhoff on Dec. 15, 1941, in Kahoka, Mo. She graduated from Allen High School, LaMoille. She was a member of Community United Methodist Church, LaMoille, the Love Circle, Birthday Club and LaMoille Women's Club. She helped at her family's grocery store in LaMoille during the 1950s and at Barney's Grocery during the 1960s. She was employed by First State Bank of Van Orin as assistant cashier from January 1978-1988. She was secretary of LaMoille-Clarion Public Library District in LaMoille. She is survived by three sons, Mark (Janet) Wamhoff, Tim Wamhoff and Tad (Connie) Wamhoff, all of LaMoille; one daughter, Connie (Richard) Enlow of Reading, Pa.; nine grandchildren, Matt and Michael Wamhoff, Erin Pinter, Miranda and Nicholas Wamhoff, Reese Wamhoff, Cory Folty, and Josh and Brandi Wamhoff; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband on Nov. 22, 1997; one son, Les Wamhoff; one daughter-in-law, Kathleen Wamhoff, and one sister, Roberta Politsch. Memorials may be directed to Community United Methodist Church.
