Elizabeth "Bette" Deaner, 90, of Mendota died April 23, 2012, in Mendota Lutheran home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota. Burial will be in Restland Cemetery, Mendota. The Rev. Michael Morrell will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services Thursday in the funeral home. She was born Oct. 24, 1921 in Mendota to Richard and Leona (Blais) Woods. She married Willard (Bill) Deaner on Jan. 3, 1941 in Mendota. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Mendota. She and her husband farmed north of Mendota until their retirement at which time they moved to Mendota. She belonged to the Home Extension women's club and was active in church activities. Survivors include one daughter, Mary Ellen Ensor of Mendota; one son, John Deaner of Mendota; five grandchildren, Laura Boege, Nikole and Megan Deaner, Michelle Carnahan and Chad Ensor; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband on Jan. 7, 1997 and two sons, Lynn and Clayton Deaner. Memorials may be directed to St. John's Lutheran Church or Mendota Lutheran Home.
