Elizabeth Lorraine Finley (nee Winkenweder) died on March 17, 2013 at the age of 91. She was born on May 30, 1921 in Aurora, Illinois. Her husband, Robert Coe Finley, Jr. preceded her in death. She is survived by her son, Robert Coe Finley, III, M.D. (Celia); grandchildren, Robert Finley IV, Timothy Finley (LeeAnn), Rebecca Richel; and great-grandchildren, Joseph, Nicholas, William, and Jacob. Elizabeth was a graduate of Aurora University. She was an accomplished artist who studied under the internationally famous Ruth Van Sickle Ford. Elizabeth was a member of the Aurora & Wayne Art Leagues, West Suburban Fine Arts Alliance, and was former President of the Brush and Palette Society. Her paintings are displayed in many galleries, corporate offices, and homes. She was also a freelance writer and published a children's book as well as an anthology of her poetry and paintings. Elizabeth was a member of the Aurora Pencrafters and Hawthorne Societies. Her writing and painting strongly reflected her Christian faith. She was active in civic and charitable organizations and served as President of five societies. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Aurora. Private burial service will be held on Thursday, March 21, 2013 for immediate family.
