Elizabeth Mitchell, 63, of Stamford, Conn., and formerly of Mendota, died May 21, 2009, in her Stamford residence. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota, with the Rev. Dale Dykstra officiating. Burial will be at Dewey Cemetery, Ophir Township. Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home. She was born June 13, 1945, in Mendota to Warren P. and Edith (Longcor) Mitchell. She was a graduate of Mendota High School and the school of nursing at Copley Hospital in Aurora. Mrs. Mitchell had been employed by Peoples Hospital in Peru for five years and in the Medical Oncology department of Greenwich Hospital, Greenwich, Conn., for 37 years. She is survived by her mother, Edith Mitchell of Mendota; one brother, Allan (Linda) Mitchell of Byron; and longtime caregiver Marcia Zack of Stamford. She was preceded in death by her father. Memorials may be directed to Greenwich Hospital Home Care Hospice.
