Obituary
Elroy R. Lauer, 93, of Mendota passed away July 24, 2019 at Heritage Health, Mendota.
Mass of Christian burial
will be Saturday at noon at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Sublette with Father Randy Fronek officiating. There will be no visitation. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Sublette. Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota is handling arrangements.
Elroy was born October 25, 1925 in Sublette to Paul and Elizabeth (Weber) Lauer. He married Kathleen Eiberger January 8, 1952 in Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Peterstown.
Elroy farmed on the family farm his entire life. He was a member of Holy Cross Church. He served on the Lee County planning commission, was a Sublette Township trustee and was chairman of Lee County Soil and Water. He was a member of Mendota Lions Club and Mendota Gardeners Club and was the recipient of the lawn of the month award.
He is survived by his children, Jerome (Dawn) Lauer, Thomas (Kim) Lauer, Martin (Cathy) Lauer, Gary (Lori) Lauer, Susan (Kevin) Shaw, Linda Dimmig, Lisa (Gary) Setchell, Cathy (Bruce) Bankes, and Brenda (Dustin) Haynes. 19 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife in 2013, two brothers, daughter Jeanne Esgar, son Robert Lauer, and two grandchildren.
Memorials may be directed to Parkinsons Foundation or the donors choice.
