Ethel Vermillion, 93, of Mendota died June 2, 2012, in
Illinois Valley Community Hospital, Peru.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Merritt Funeral
Home, Mendota. Burial will be at South
Paw Paw Cemetery, Wyoming Township.
Visitation is one hour prior to services
Wednesday in the funeral home.
She was born Aug. 24, 1918, in Earlville
to Jesse and Pansy (Main) Wangler. She
married Robert Vermillion on Sept. 25,
1935, in Geneva.
She and her husband moved to Meriden
in 1960. She was a graduate of Earlville
High School and received her licensed
practical nursing degree in 1955 from St.
Mary's Hospital in La Salle. She was
employed as an aide at Mendota Community Hospital and
later by Sunrise Nursing Home in Mendota from the time it
first opened until her retirement.
She is survived by one daughter, Elaine (Charles) Berger of
Mendota; one son, Kenneth (Sandra) Vermillion of Yuma,
Ariz.; 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and seven
great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband on April 25,
1981; one daughter, Linda; one grandson and one great-grandson.
