Eugene Curtis Jones Sr., 69, of Marion, formerly of Mendota, died Oct. 31, 2010, in Westview Care Center, West Frankfort. Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota, with Deacon Vince Slomian officiating. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Mendota. Visitation is 11 a.m. until time of services Thursday at the funeral home. Mr. Jones was born April 11, 1941, in Amboy to David and Ava (Hojvrut) Jones. He served with the U.S. Marine Corps. He is survived by two daughters, Jeana (Eugene) Phillips of Marion and Ava (Matthew) Brush of DeSoto; two sons, Eugene Curtis Jones Jr. of Marion and Pryce Edwards Jones of Herrin; four grandchildren; and one sister, Mary Warren of Houston, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorials may be directed to the donor's choice.
