Eugene Schwingle, 74, of LaMoille died Jan. 19, 2008, in his LaMoille residence. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota, with his nephew, Gary Losey, officiating. Burial will be at Union Cemetery, LaMoille Township, with military rites by VFW Post 4079. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Mr. Schwingle was born Nov. 24, 1933, in LaMoille to Lester and Beatrice (Spohn) Schwingle. He married Susie Horton on Oct. 15, 1976, in First United Methodist Church, Mendota. He was a member of Community United Methodist Church of LaMoille and Goldwing Road Riders Association. He was a tool & die operator with Motor Wheel in Mendota from 1963- 1996. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He is survived by his wife; two sons, Jim (Andrea) Schwingle of Peru and Dave (Maryanne) Schwingle of LaMoille; one daughter, Deborah (Bill) Bradley of LaMoille; one stepson, Scott (Lisa) Stalvey of Lake City, Fla.; 15 grandchildren; eight grandchildren; one brother, Wayne (Sybil) Schwingle of Alburnette, Iowa; two sisters, Joyce (Jean) Losey of Zion and Marlene (Richard) Lohse of Amboy; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers. Memorials may be directed to LaMoille Ambulance and Fire Department or the family.
