Ferna L. Walker, 91, of Mendota died Feb. 17, 2010, in her Mendota residence. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota, with her son, Larry Walker, officiating. Burial will be at Restland Cemetery, Mendota. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Friday in the funeral home. She was born April 10, 1918, in Zearing to John and Hanna (Nickel) May. She married John Walker on Feb. 14, 1938, in Mendota. She was a graduate of LaMoille High School. She owned and operated Walker Floor Coverings in Mendota with her husband until they retired in 1973. Mrs. Walker is survived by one son, Larry (Karen) Walker of LaPine, Ore.; two daughters-in-law, Joni Walker ofAmboy and Alison Walker of New Jersey; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband on June 17, 1982; two sons, James and Robert Walker; three brothers and three sisters. Memorials may be directed to Illinois Valley Hospice.
