Floyd Archer, 91, of Mendota died March 26, 2010, in Mendota Lutheran Home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota, with the Rev. Gale Brandner officiating. Burial will be at Restland Cemetery, Mendota. Visitation will be Sunday at the funeral home from 2 to 4 p.m. Mr. Archer was born Nov. 23, 1918, in Mendota to Charles Roy and Maggie (Sibigtroth) Archer. He married Phyllis Buck in 1937; she preceded him in death in 1976. He later married Fern Johnson in 1983; she died in 2007. He was a 1936 graduate of Mendota High School. He was a member of the Compton United Methodist Church, a former member of Compton Fire Department and served as a Lee County supervisor. He was the owner and operator of Compton Farm Service which sold feed and fertilizer. He also owned a service station in Compton, and prior to his retirement, he was employed by Mendota High School in the bus garage. He is survived by one son, Allen (Dixie) Archer of Mendota; one daughter, Judi (Lynn) Tentler of Cape Coral, Fla.; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. In addition to his wives, he was preceded in death by one brother, Dale. Memorials may be directed to Compton United Methodist Church or the donor's choice.
