Fran Dessing, 75, of Mendota died March 3, 2010, in Heritage Manor Nursing Home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in First United Methodist Church, Mendota, with the Rev. Michael Morrell officiating. Burial will be at Restland Cemetery, Mendota. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Friday in Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota. She was born Nov. 18, 1934, in Erie to Willis and Dorothy (Phillips) Funderburgh. She married Robert Dessing on Oct. 1, 1955, in Cordova. Mrs. Dessing was a member of First United Methodist Church and Women of the Moose in Geneseo. She worked as a waitress at Octave Restaurant in Mendota, Mendota Elks Lodge, and Mendota Moose Lodge. She is survived by one daughter, Tammy (Robert) Guerrero of Mendota; two sons, Timothy (Nancy) Dessing of Mendota and Tom Dessing of Mendota; five grandchildren; one brother, David Funderburgh of Chadwick; and three sisters, Linda (Randy) Smit of Morrison, Ann (Jeff) Peters of Freeport and Carrie Funderburgh of Sterling. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1996, her parents and three brothers. Memorials may be directed to Mendota Booster Club.
