Francis P. Glaser, 89, of Mendota died January 9, 2017 in OSF St. Paul Medical Center, Mendota. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday in Holy Cross Church, Mendota with Rev. Joel Phelps officiating. Burial will take place in St. Mary's Cemetery, Sublette with military rites by Mendota VFW Post 4079. Visitation will be 9-11:00 a.m., Tuesday in the Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota.
Francis was born December 24, 1927 in Sublette to William and Anna (Dinges) Glaser. He married Marjorie Didier on October 25, 1952 in Holy Cross Church. He was a graduate of St. Bede Academy. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Korea. He was a faithful member of Holy Cross Church. He was a brakeman for 30 years with the CB & Q Railroad and later with the Burlington Northern Railroad. He was a member of VFW Post 4079, Mendota Moose Lodge, Mendota Golf Club, Elks Lodge 1212, 75 year member of Catholic Order of Foresters and the Knights of Columbus. He was a lifelong Chicago sports fan of the Bulls, Blackhawks, Bears and most of all his Chicago Cubs.
He is survived by two daughters Michele (Robert) Hamel of Byron and Marcia (Jeff) Seyfarth of Naperville; 3 grandchildren Adam (Natalie) Seyfarth, Jason (Jenna) Hamel and Mandy (Rob) McCartney; 4 great-grandchildren and one sister, Teresa Didier of Franklin Grove.
He was preceded by his wife Marjorie in May of 2012 and eleven brothers and sisters.
Memorials may be directed to Holy Cross Church.
