Francis (Joe) Miller, of Mendota, age 82, passed away on Sunday, May 11, at Allure in Mendota. Joe was born in Amboy, IL, May 6, 1943, to Lawrence and Charlotte (Bradley) Miller. He graduated from LaMoille High School in 1961, and married Judith Sylvius on February 1, 1964. Joe was a hard worker from an early age. He spent most of his career with the City of Mendota, retiring as Public Works Director in 1998, and then took a sales position with Utility Equipment Co.  For many years, he also sold and serviced Electrolux vacuums, and in his retirement he ran deliveries for Pohl's Office Supply, Mendota. Joe enjoyed family, fixing things, making people laugh, helping and encouraging others, plus ball games, coaching, and other activities involving his grandkids. He attended Christ's Church in Mendota.
Survivors include Judy, his wife of 61 years, son, Michael (Lori) Miller of Newburg, Missouri, and daughter, Kristina (Richard) Menzel of Princeton; also 6 grandchildren: Tawnya Marciniak (Jimmy Ahlstrom), Tatum (Nick) Glidewell, Trista (Randy) Riveland, Madison (Vincent) Vergamini, Colton Miller, and Walker Menzel; and 9 great grandchildren: Olivia Pierce, Toby Marciniak, Ryder Riveland, Samantha Marciniak, Addysen Riveland, Maddox Glidewell, Kinzlee Riveland, Estella Glidewell, and Grayson Vergamini. Also, one brother, John (Rosemary) Miller and one sister, Lois (Terry) Cox), plus nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and 3 sisters, Shirley Miller, Mary Lou Miller, and Bonnie Noel.
Memorial visitation will be 9:30 - 11:30AM, Saturday, May 17, 2025 at the Princeton Bible Church, followed by a Memorial Service at the church at 11:30 AM officiated by Jim McDowell, pastor of Christ's Church in Mendota.  Private Burial will take place at Restland Cemetery in Mendota, IL.  Memorials may be directed to Kids Klubs or Mendota Area Christian Food Pantry.  Visit www.horner-merritt.com for online guestbook and video tribute.
