Francis Joseph
Wujek, 93, of rural
Mendota passed
away May 22, 2014, in his
home, surrounded by his wife
and children.
Mass of Christian burial
will be celebrated at 10:30
a.m. Tuesday in Sts. Peter
& Paul Catholic Church,
Peterstown. The Rev. Jacob
Rose, grandson of Frank
Wujek, will officiate. Burial
will be at Sts. Peter and Paul
Cemetery with military rites
accorded by VFW Post 4079.
Visitation will be 3-7 p.m.
Monday in Sts. Peter and Paul
Parish Hall. Arrangements
were provided by Merritt
Funeral Home, Mendota.
Born Nov. 13, 1920, in
La Salle, Frank was the
son of Stanley and Agnes
(Olsztynski) Wujek. Frank
attended La Salle-Peru
Township High School. He
served in the U.S. Navy in
World War II on the USS
Oceanus. Upon returning
from the war, he married
Mary Catherine Stremlau on
Aug. 26, 1950.
Frank served as the Troy
Grove Township clerk for 28
years and on the Mendota
Township High School
Boardof Education for 10
years. He was a member of
Knights of Columbus. He was
a farmer and started Mendota
Welding and Manufacturing.
He is survived by his wife,
Mary Catherine; his children,
Rick (Darlene) Wujek,
Andrew (Sue) Wujek, Mark
(Debby) Wujek, Mary Jo (Jim)
Myers, Rosemary (Gary)
Rose, Dan (Katie) Wujek,
Anita (Frank) Kobilsek, Paul
(Mary Beth) Wujek, and Tom
(Carrie) Wujek; 29 grandchildren;
24 great-grandchildren;
one brother, Edward
of Litchfield; and one sister,
Rosemary Of Oak Lawn.
He was preceded in death
by his son, Leo Wujek; one
brother, Steve; and one sister,
Louise.
In lieu of flowers, memorials
can be directed to the
Peterstown Teens Encounter
Christ Program or the
Carton Scholarship Fund for
Seminarian Education.
