Dr. Frank C. Riley, 80, of Mendota died Jan. 8, 2015, in his residence.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in First United Methodist Church, Mendota, with the Rev. Michael Morrell officiating.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Monday in the church. Funeral arrangements are by Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota.
He was born May 5, 1934, in Aurora to Robert and Anna (Zeuch) Riley. He married Jo Anne Dewey on June 16, 1957, in Aurora.
He was a former member of West Chicago Congregational Church and then was a member of First United Methodist Church, Mendota.
He was a graduate of East Aurora High School and University of Illinois Veterinary College. He owned and operated the West Chicago Animal Hospital for 37 years. He was a former member and past president of the West Chicago Library Board, a former past president of the United Way of West Chicago, member of West Chicago Moose Lodge and Mendota Moose Lodge, member and past president of West Chicago and Mendota Rotary cubs and was a Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International. He was a past president of Mendota Christian Food Pantry and a driver for the Meals on Wheels program.
He also was assistant Scoutmaster for Troop 21 BSA, West Chicago. He was a member of Mendota Historical Society and a volunteer with the Mendota museum. Frank and his wife moved to Mendota from West Chicago in 1997.
He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Becky (Chris) Kendziora of Columbus, Wis., and Kim (Ken) Goins) of Peoria; two sons, Frank (Barbara) Riley of Memphis, Tenn., and William (Merry) Riley of Springfield; 16 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one sister, Betty Kugler of Marengo.
He was preceded in death by one grandson, Mitchell Riley.
