Franklin P. Truckenbrod, 89, of 1365 Fisk Road, Compton died Nov. 9, 2009, in the Rochelle home of his son. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in First Lutheran Church, Lee, with the Rev. Sarah R. Schaffner officiating. Burial will be at Restland Cemetery, Mendota. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Friday in Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota, and one hour prior to services Saturday in the church. Mr. Truckenbrod was born Feb. 23, 1920, in Mendota to Gustav and Caroline (Troester) Truckenbrod. He married Katherine Elsesser on April 1, 1945, in Mendota. He was a member of First Lutheran Church in Lee and a former member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Mendota. He was on various committees of the church in Mendota and Lee and volunteered with Neighbors in Christ Ecumenical food pantry in Lee. He farmed in the Compton area his entire life. He is survived by two sons, Jeffrey (Mary) Truckenbrod of Rochelle and James (Margaret) Truckenbrod of Riverview, Fla.; one daughter, Susan (Paul) Sanderson of Crystal Lake and Lee; eight grandchildren; three greatgrandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; six stepgreat-grandchildren; one sister, Gladys Brantner of Mendota; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife on Dec. 30, 2008; three brothers and one sister. Memorials may be directed to First Lutheran Church in Lee.
