Obituary

Frederick Sprung Jr., 80,
of LaMoille died Oct. 28,
2015, in Rockford Memorial
Hospital.
Funeral services will be at
11 a.m. Tuesday in Zion
Lutheran Church of Clarion
with Rev. Kevin Weeks officiating.
Burial will be at
Greenfield Cemetery, LaMoille.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m.
Monday in Merritt Funeral
Home, Mendota.
He was born April 7,
1935, in Riceville, Iowa to
Frederick and Dorothea
(Milbrandt) Sprung. He
married Sylvia Halverson
on June 24, 1954, in Osage,
Iowa.
He attended Riceville and
Osage high schools and
later attended Illinois Valley
Community College. He
farmed in the Osage area
prior to moving to LaMoille
in 1966.
He was a member of Zion
Lutheran Church of Clarion
and a past president and
secretary of the church
council. He owned and operated
Sprung Sales in LaMoille
from 1983 until he sold
the business in 2000. He
was a past president of the
Mitchell County, Iowa Farm
Bureau and served on the
Ag Advisory Boards of
IVCC and National Bank of
Mendota.
He was a volunteer with
LaMoille Fire Department
and served on the LaMoille
village board. He enjoyed
being involved in the activities
of his three grandsons.
He loved life and the people
who he met during his
lifetime. He never encountered
a job or problem that
was too big to handle.
He is survived by his wife,
Sylvia of LaMoille; two
sons, Michael (Lori) Sprung
of LaMoille, and Mark
Sprung of St. Louis Park,
Minn.; three grandsons,
David, Cory (Lauren), and
Ethan Sprung.
He was preceded in death
by three brothers, Ken,
Robert, and Russell; and
two sisters, Ione and
Dorothy. Memorials may be
directed to LaMoille Ambulance
Service or LaMoille-Clarion Library.
