Frederick Lee Faber age 93 of Princeton, Illinois passed away on Friday, June 26, 2026, at Liberty Village of Princeton. He was surrounded by family and friends during his last few days of life.
Born March 19, 1933, Fred was the son of Glenn and Lorena (Erbes) Faber. Fred was a long time resident of La Moille, Illinois. From a very young age, Fred developed a deep and abiding love for the land. As a lifelong farmer, he dedicated his hands, his heart and his career to farming land around the LaMoille area growing row crops and raising cattle and pigs until he retired in 1998. He also enjoyed watching Illini basketball and football. He cherished watching his grandkids play sports and his great-grandkids. He graduated from LaMoille High School in 1951and married the love of his life, Aleta M Kessel on August 26,1956 at the Methodist Church in Amboy, Illinois. Together they shared over 69 years together and built a life centered on faith, family and hard work.
He loved checking on his crops and fields and maintaining his equipment and sheds. He loved being outside and working the land. His work ethic, wisdom, and ability to fix anything with a piece of wire and a wrench will be remembered by all. Beyond his love for agriculture, Fred was a lifelong member of the Community United Methodist Church of La Moille, where he served on several boards and was a Sunday school teacher. Before farming, he also served in 101 Airborne Division as a paratrooper at Fort Cambell, Kentucky. He also was active in the community as he was on the Van Orin Grade School Board and several agricultural boards such as the Livestock Feeders Board, Farm Bureau Member, President of the Greenfield Cemetery Association, PCA member, and a director on Farm Credit Board.
He is survived by his spouse of 69 years, Aleta, his son Glenn (Jane) Faber of La Moille and his daughter, Candi (Marc) Kingry of Ladd. His cherished grandchildren Jenica (Brad) Cole of Princeton, Cole (Katy) Faber of La Moille, Brandon (Savannah) of New Jersy and Nathaniel (Hanna) Kingry of Iowa. And 8 great grandchildren Hadley, Tinley and Cash Cole, Ty and Beck Faber, Adeline and Finneas Kingry and Oliver Kingry. He is also survived by a sister-in-law Beverly Faber of Mendota and numerous nieces and nephews. Fred is preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Lorena (Erbes) Faber, 3 brothers, Warren, Willard and Calvin Faber and 2 sisters, Lola Zimmerlein and Carole Hanson. There were alsonumerous nieces and nephews that preceded Fred in death.
A celebration of Fred’s life will be held on Wednesday July 1, 2026 at 10:00 am at Community United Methodist Church in LaMoille, Illinois. Burial will follow at Greenfield Cemetery. A visitation will be on Tuesday June 30, 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM at Community United Methodist Church in LaMoille, Illinois.
In lieu of flowers and to honor Fred, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Greenfield Cemetery or Community United Methodist Church.
