Obituary
Gary K. Anderson, 81, of LaMoille, passed away on Friday, October 14, 2022 at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford surrounded by his loving family.
Gary was born in Hickory Hill Township, Illinois on February 13, 1941 to Russell and Edna (Thomason) Anderson.
He graduated from LaMoille High School in 1959. Gary and his wife, Dixie (Swanlund) built their life together on a family farm north of LaMoille. He served as the Clarion Township Supervisor for several years and then as Clarion Township Road Commissioner for several more. He also served on the Union Cemetery Board and was a long-time member of the LaMoille Lions Club. Over the years, Gary enjoyed golfing, camping, family trips, the Green Bay Packers, and most recently, following son Kevin's local band, Greenfield Station.
He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 60 years, Dixie (Swanlund) Anderson; two sisters Mary Erbes and Phyllis Hitchins both of Mendota; son Kevin Anderson and his wife Tina of LaMoille; daughter Renee Kozeal and her husband Bill of Van Orin; five grandchildren, Ian Anderson, Garrett Anderson, Katie Anderson, Griffin Kozeal and Max Kozeal and several nieces and nephews.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Edna Anderson, sister Wilma Richards, and brothers Robert Anderson, Morris Anderson, and Donald Anderson.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the Community United Methodist Church, LaMoille with Rev. Tom Babler. Burial will be private at Union Cemetery, LaMoille at a later date. Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 18, 2022 from 4-7 p.m. at the Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota.
