Gary A. Fransen, 73, of Peru passed away February 2, 2018 in his home.

Private graveside services will be at Troy Grove Cemetery. There will be no visitation. The Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota is handling the arrangements.

Gary was born October 15, 1944 in Mendota to Logan and Cecil (Carney) Fransen.

He was a 1962 graduate of Mendota High School and later served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the U.S. Trotting Association.

He is survived by his wife, Loretta of Peru; three step-children, Linda Logar, Bob and Cathy Logar, and Don Logar; two brothers, Mark Fransen of Big Rock and Terry (Ellen) Fransen of Utica; and one sister, Sandy (Stephen) Arkels of Princeton.

He was preceded by his parents and a sister Judi Fransen.
