Genevieve A. Biers, 91, of Mendota died Aug. 30, 2011, in Manor Court of Peru. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Holy Cross Church, Mendota. The Rev. Fredi Gomez-Torres will officiate. Interment will be at a later date at Holy Cross Cemetery, Mendota. There will be no visitation. Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota, provided the arrangements. She was born April 6, 1920, in Sublette to Christian and Appolonia (Pline) Biers. She was a member of Holy Cross Church, Mendota. She had been employed by General Telephone Co. in Mendota for 32 years before retiring in 1982. Survivors are nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters. Memorials may be directed to Illinois Valley Hospice.
