Obituary

George O. Fitch, 85, of Mendota died January 7, 2015 in Mendota Lutheran Home.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in First United Methodist Church, Mendota with Rev. Michael
Morrell officiating. Burial will be at Restland Cemetery, Mendota. Visitation will be 2-5 p.m. Sunday in Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota with a Masonic service at 4:30 p.m.

He was born March 25, 1929, in Bushnell to Floyd and Mildred (Richter) Fitch. He married Maribelle Lincoln on June 20, 1948, in Avon.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Mendota; member and Past Master of Mendota Masonic Lodge 176; member of Azure Chapter of Eastern Star in Mendota and later a member of Star of Rochelle Chapter 1030; and a member of Commandery and Royal Arch Masons.

He was employed by the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad as a division lineman until his retirement in 1992.

He is survived by his wife of Mendota; three daughters, Evelyn (Ron) Full of Mendota; Kathy (Michael) Pierce of Earlville and Marsha (Joe) Watkins of Peoria; one son; Allen (Leesa) Fitch of Mendota; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; one sister, Margaret Crandall of East Moline; and two brothers, Earl Fitch of Hannibal, Mo., and Albert (Suzanne) Fitch of Orion.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Emma.

Memorials may be directed to the Eastern Star Scholarship Fund.
