Obituary

George P. Taylor, 70, of LaMoille died April 15, 2017, in University of Iowa Hospital, Iowa City, Iowa.

A memorial Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Patrick Church, Arlington with Rev. Patrick Fixsen officiating.

Arrangements were provided by Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota.

George was born May 30, 1946, in Princeton to Christopher and Rosaria (Mercogliano) Taylor.

He was a retired truck driver and boilermaker. For the past six years he has been actively involved in St. Jude Rides which benefits children with cancer. He was a dedicated blood, platelet and tissue donor and Locks of Love donor. He was a member of St. Patrick Church, Arlington and St. Anthony Catholic Church, Harlingen, Texas.

His greatest passions were riding his trike and spending time with his family. As an avid motorcyclist, he toured much of the United States including Alaska, took numerous trips to Sturgis, S.D. and Yellowstone National Park. Everywhere he traveled, he made friends. He even made appearances on stage in Harlingen, Texas.

He was and will always be a loving brother, father, uncle, grandfather and friend.

He is survived by his daughter, Stephanie (Tracey) Felton of Des Moines, Iowa; son, Brian Taylor; three brothers, Tony (Yvonne) Taylor of LaMoille, Jim (Rosie) Taylor of Spring Valley, and Rick (Julie) Taylor of Princeton; four sisters, Mary Taylor and Lucy Taylor, both of LaMoille, Dode Perry of Spring Valley and Linda (Carl) Beattie of Ohio, Ill.; two grandsons, Andrew and Casey Felton, both of Des Moines; three granddaughters, Andria Rameriz of California, Jana Felton and Rosalie (Gonzalo) Gallardo, both of Des Moines, Iowa.; one great-grandaughter, Gabriella Rameriz of California; one great-grandson, Gio Gallardo of Des Moines, Iowa.; 10 nieces; nine nephews; eight great-nieces; nine great-nephews; and one great-great-niece.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother-in-law, Clyde Perry.

The family requests donations may be made to St. Jude Rides in lieu of flowers.
