Gerald "Jerry" E. Becket, 76, of Mendota passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2022 in his home.

Services will be held Thursday, December 29, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. at the Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota with Rev. Mary Bohall officiating. Burial will be in Restland Cemetery, Mendota. Visitation will held from 10:00 a.m. until time of services.

Jerry was born December 17, 1946 in Mendota to Frank and Dorothy (Forster) Becket. He married Lorraine Baier on August 16, 1969 at Holy Cross Church, Mendota.

He was a 1964 graduate of Mendota High School and attended Illinois Valley Community College. He worked Hart Carter in Mendota for over 30 years as a maintenance electrician and then for Mendota School District 289 as a maintenance manager for over 10 years before retiring in 2011. He was a member of the Mendota VFW Auxiliary. He loved spoiling his grandkids, weekend gatherings with his family and playing cards and tending to the neighborhood squirrels.

He is survived by his wife Lorraine of Mendota; his son Brian (Kim) Becket; his two daughters Sherri Wittenauer of Sublette and Amy (Brian) Lofthouse of Rochelle; seven grandchildren Kody Becket, Hayden Wittenauer, Kamdyn Becket, Alainie Wittenauer, Avery Wittenauer, Clara Lofthouse and Brody Lofthouse and his grand dog Bo.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Richard Becket.
