Geraldine J. Haag, 93, of Mendota Lutheran Home died May 24, 2011, in the home. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Restland Cemetery with the Rev. Michael Morrell officiating. There will be no visitation. Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota, provided the arrangements. She was born Nov. 17, 1917, in Mendota to Arthur W. and Mabel E. (Billhorn) Haag. She worked at the Mendota Reporter until her retirement in 1989. She was a longtime volunteer at Graves Hume Public Library and Mendota Museum and Historical Society. She loved to write poetry and do needlepoint. She is survived by cousins, Jan (Ron Pearse) Collins of Rockford, Judy (Walter) Collins of Florida and Marcia (Larry) Gates of Florida; and her best friend, Irene Mealey of Mendota. She was preceded in death by her parents. Memorials may be directed to Mendota Lutheran Home.
