Obituary
Gertrude "Gert" F. Forney, 97 of LaSalle, passed away May 16, 2019 at Mendota Lutheran Home.
A private memorial service will be held at Grace Bible Fellowship Church, Peru at a later date. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, LaSalle.
Gert was born November 5, 1921 in LaSalle to Michael and Mary (Festa) Cilla. She married Norman E. Forney July 21, 1945 in First Baptist Church, LaSalle.
Gert was a 1939 graduate of LP High School. She worked at Westclox, Senica Shipyards during WWII and retired from Sears Roebuck in 1969. She loved singing at weddings and playing the organ. She dedicated her life to her family, friends, and her Lord.
She is survived by her two sons Gary (Jean) Forney of Surprise, Arizona and Greg (Judy) Forney of Mendota; three grandchildren Trish, Heath and Heidi; four great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; two step grandsons Brian Edwards and Chad Edwards; sister Connie (Lou) Strom of Tennessee; brother Dom Cilla of Wheaton and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, grandson Justin Forney, and sister Mena Rounds.
Memorials may be directed to the Grace Bible Fellowship Church, Peru.
