Gilbert "Gib" Glaser, 86, of Manitowoc, WI and a former Mendota resident died June 2, 2018 in his home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Monday in Holy Cross Church with Rev. Peter Pilon officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Mendota with Military Rites by VFW Post 4079. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Sunday in the Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota.
Gilbert was born August 12, 1932 in Sublette to Leo and Clara (Weber) Glaser. He married Gloria Jean Dyas on January 3, 1953 who preceded him in 2008.
Gib graduated from Mendota High School in 1951. He served with the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was employed by Wayside Press in Mendota for several years after the service and then was employed by Phalen Steel in Mendota until his retirement.
He is survived by his fiance, Suzanne Phalen of Mantiowoc; two sons, Steve (Becky) Glaser of Mendota and Greg (Lori) Glaser of Cassville, WI; one daughter, Gaydene (Dennis) Schultz of Mendota; 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Charlotte Delhotal and Carol DeAngelo.
He was preceded by his parents, wife, a granddaughter Kristie Glaser and one step-grandson, Kenny Provow.
Gib was well known to everybody but his best asset was his practical joking with his family and friends.
