Giovanni Perez, 17, of Mendota died April 1, 2014, in Lurie Children's Hospital, Chicago. Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Holy Cross Church , Mendota, with the Rev. Fredi Gomez Torres officiating. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Mendota. Visitation is 5-9 p.m. Friday in Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota. He was born Sept. 18, 1996, in Spring Valley to Jose Juan and Rosalinda (Guzman) Perez. He is survived by his parents, Rosalinda Guzman and Juan Perez; three brothers, Adrian Perez, Fabian Pantoja and Hugo Pantoja; his maternal grandparents, Catalina and Benito Guzman; and his paternal grandparents, Arminia and Jesus Perez. Memorials may be directed to the family.
