Gladys C. Cogdal, 90, of Arlington
died Feb. 21, 2014, in Heritage Health,
Mendota.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m.
Wednesday in Merritt Funeral Home,
Mendota with the Revs. Colleen Lawrence
and Tom McMurtry officiating. Burial
will be at Greenfield
Cemetery, LaMoille.
Visitation is 3-8
p.m. Tuesday in the
funeral home.
She was born Sept.
4, 1923, in Fort Dodge,
Iowa, to Gabriel and
Gabriella (Olsen)
Gabrielson. She married
Glenn B. Cogdal
on Dec. 20, 1941, in
La Salle.
She was employed by Arlington Grade
School as a custodian, bus driver and
cook. She also was employed by Spiller
& Spiller as an assembly line worker
and as a lab tech at Manley Bros. until
her retirement. She then was a caregiver
for the elderly. She lived in Freedom
and Waltham townships before moving
to Arlington, here she lived the past 58
years.
She is survived by four daughters,
Sharon (Don) Piller of Mendota, Janice
Wamhoff of Princeton, Deb Cogdal of
Austin, Texas, and Barb (John) Hild
of Arlington; four sons, Richard (Patti)
Codgal of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., Roger
(Donna) Cogdal of LaMoille, Norman
(Brenda) Cogdal of Arlington and Gary
(Joan) Cogdal of Channahon; 41 grandchildren;
64 great-grandchildren; and five
great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband
on Aug. 30, 1973; one son, Duane;
four brothers, Jacob, Orren, Tennes and
Sam; one sister, Signa Echols; one daughter-
in-law, Ethel Mae Cogdal; and one
granddaughter, Ashleigh Rae Lock.
