Grace D. Karstens, 84, of Mendota died Nov. 8, 2011, in Mendota Lutheran Home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota, with the Rev. Dale Peterson officiating. Burial will be at Lutheran Cemetery, Mendota. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. She was born Jan. 10, 1927, in Plainfield to Arthur and Laura (Grate) Glasgow. She married Melvin Karstens on June 29, 1947, in Joliet. Mrs. Karstens was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Mendota. She is survived by her husband, Melvin of Mendota; three sons, Raymond (Linda) Karstens of Mendota, Ronald (Donna) Karstens of LaMoille and Gaylon Karstens of Schaumburg; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Christine; three brothers and four sisters. Memorials may be directed to American Cancer Society for breast cancer.
