Harold H. Meisel, 98, of Mendota, passed away August 12, 2023 at Allure of Mendota.

Funeral services will be Saturday, August 19, 2023 at 11:00 a.m., at the Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota with Vicar Anthony Windau officiating. Burial will be in Restland Cemetery, Mendota. Visitation will be Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services.

Harold was born July 3, 1925 in Mendota to Charles and Agnes (Bauer) Meisel. The family lived in Westfield Township until 1939.

Harold attended LaMoille School. After his education he took up farming on his father's farm. He married Darlene Rod on July 6, 1946 in Mendota. They made their home on the farm in Dimmick Township until he retired and moved to Mendota in 1995.

He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Mendota and former member of Dimmick School Board and Dimmick Township Board. He volunteered for Mendota Area Senior Services, St. John's Lutheran Church and Meals on Wheels. In 2002 he and Darlene were nominated by Mendota Area Senior Services and were accepted into the Gallery of Ageless Achievers.

He is survived by his wife Darlene of Mendota; 3 children Janet (Rick) Close of Dalzell, Kevin (Joann) Meisel of Mendota and Darryl (Sandy) Meisel of Ottawa; 7 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 sisters.
