Harold A. Sauer,
79, of Mendota died
Feb. 18, 2014, in St.
Anthony's Medical Center,
Rockford.
Services will be at 11
a.m. Tuesday in St. John's
Lutheran Church, Mendota
with the Rev. Dale Peterson
officiating. Burial will be at
St. John's Lutheran Cemetery,
Mendota.
Visitation is 4-7 p.m.
Monday in Merritt Funeral
Home, Mendota.
Mr. Sauer was born
Sept. 22, 1934, in Mendota
to Harry and Gladys (Yost)
Sauer. He married Geraldine
Buettner on March 20, 1976,
in First Presbyterian Church,
Mendota. He graduated from
Mendota High School in
1953. He served with the U.S.
Air Force during the Korean
War. He was a mechanic at
Prescott Brothers prior to his
retirement.
He was a member of
American Legion Post 1043,
Elks Lodge 1212, WPC Car
Club of Chicago and St.
John's Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife;
one niece, Becky Atherton of
Mendota; and one nephew,
Mark Atherton of Earlville.
He was preceded in death
by his parents and one sister,
Barbara Atherton.
