Harold W. Zinke, 81, of
Compton died July 18, 2012,
in Mendota Community
Hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m.
Saturday in Immanuel
Lutheran Church, Compton,
with the Rev. Sarah R.
Schaffner officiating. Burial
will be at Restland Cemetery,
Mendota.
Visitation is 4-7 p.m.
Friday in Merritt Funeral
Home, Mendota.
Mr.
Zinke was
born Jan.
1, 1931, in
Lee County
to Carl
and Anna
(Pfeifer)
Zinke. He
married
Colleen
Boykin on
Feb. 5,
1950, in Immanuel Lutheran
Church.
He loved both of his
careers as a lifelong farmer
and a car salesman. He was
involved in his community
and served as president of
Blackstone School PTA, president
of Mendota Farmers
Elevator and president of
Compton Community Club.
He served on the board of
Compton Volunteer Fire
Department and was a council
member at Immanuel
Lutheran Church, where he
was a lifelong member.
Harold enjoyed garage
sales, flea markets and car
shows. His love of cars was
clear to all who knew him and
his favorite was his '66 Ford
Mustang that he drove in
parades and entered in shows,
earning several awards and
trophies. He was an avid toy
collector for more than 25
years. He also loved to travel
on family vacations across the
United States and later
enjoyed trips with his wife
including two trips to Europe.
He is survived by his wife;
one daughter, Sheila (Bruce)
Bradley of Ocean View,
Hawaii; one son, Mike
(Linda) Zinke of West
Brooklyn; four grandchildren,
Doug, Josh, Lance and Marci;
four great-grandchildren,
Hunter, Hannah, Nate and
Ivy; one sister, Arlene Van
Meter of Mendota; and several
nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death
by his infant daughter,
Marsha.
