Helen J. Lonnes, 97, a resident of Mendota Lutheran Home, died Jan. 24, 2009, in the home. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Oakridge Cemetery, Hillside. Burial will be at Oakridge Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota, provided the arrangements. She was born April 16, 1911, in Burke County, North Dakota, to Fred and Bettie (Nelson) Daley. She married Leon Lonnes. Mrs. Lonnes was a member of Grace Lutheran Church of LaGrange and was employed by Marshall Field's until her retirement. She is survived by three sons, Jerome Lonnes of Richmond, Va., Fred Lonnes of Western Springs and Dewey Lonnes of Helena, Mont.; one daughter, Anita Nolen of Arlington, Va.; six grandchildren; two greatgrandchildren; and two sisters, Hazel Conklin and Lorraine Basich, both of Mesa, Ariz. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1968; an infant grandchild and one sister. Memorials may be directed to Mendota Lutheran Home.
