Helen McLaughlin, 83, of
the Country Comfort Retirement
Home, Princeton and
formerly of Troy Grove died
Oct. 12, 2015, in Mendota
Lutheran Home.
Funeral services will be at
10:30 a.m. Saturday in Merritt
Funeral Home, Mendota,
with the Rev. Howard
Smith officiating. Burial will
be at Troy Grove Cemetery.
Visitation will be one
hour prior to services Saturday
at the funeral home.
She was born March 8,
1932, in Harvel to Everett
and Nellie (Forrester)
Bloome. She married Kenneth
L. McLaughlin on
Nov. 3, 1956, in Bloomington.
She was a graduate of
Western Illinois University
where she received her
bachelor's degree and her
master's degree in administration.
She was a kindergarten
teacher at Lincoln
Grade School in Ottawa
and Troy Grove Grade
School, and a third-grade
teacher at Blackstone Grade
School in Mendota before
her retirement.
She attended First Congregational
Church in LaSalle.
She is survived by three
daughters, Carol Edgcomb
of Murrieta, Calif., Susan
(Bruce) Sack of Mendota
and Janell McLaughlin of
San Diego, Calif.; seven
grandchildren; four greatgrandchildren;
one brother,
Joe (Phyllis) Bloome of Morrisonville;
one sister, Mary
(Carroll) Hufendick of
Harvel; and one sister-inlaw,
Bonnie Bloome of Harvel.
She was preceded in
death by her husband on
Oct. 14, 1997.
Memorials may be the donation
of a book to a children's
library or to the
Alzheimer's Association.
