Obituary

Helen E. Thier, 92, of West Brooklyn died April 28, 2011, in Heritage Manor Nursing Home, Mendota. Memorial Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Sublette, with the Rev. Gary Blake officiating. Private burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Sublette at a later date. Visitation will be one hour prior to funeral Mass on Monday in the church. Arrangements are by Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota. She was born May 9, 1918, in Sublette to William and Anna (Dinges) Glaser. She married George Thier on Sept. 2, 1946. She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. She had been a bank teller in Freeport, Sublette and West Brooklyn. She enjoyed quilting with the ladies of the church. She is survived by three daughters, Sharon McCoy of West Brooklyn, Donna (Charles) McMillan of Ellsworth and Kathleen (Victor) Kazlowski of Aurora; four grandchildren, Nathan, Megan, Cassy and Kim; three great-grandchildren, Jacob, Maura and Charlotte; one brother, Francis (Marge) Glaser of Mendota; one sister, Teresa Didier of Franklin Grove; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2006; one son-in-law, William McCoy; a nephew, Travis McMillan; and many sisters and brothers. Memorials may be directed to Heritage Manor Nursing Home activity fund.
