Helen L. Thomson, 90, of
Triumph died Oct. 29, 2014,
in St. Francis Medical Center,
Peoria.
Funeral services will be at
11 a.m. Monday in Merritt
Funeral Home, Mendota,
with the Rev. Sandy Smith
officiating. Burial will be
at Waltham Cemetery,
Waltham Township.
Visitation will be 2-4 p.m.
Sunday at the funeral home.
She was born Jan.
11, 1924, in Triumph to
George and Josephine
(Davin) Lucas. She married
Charles Thomson on Nov.
26, 1944, at Waltham Presbyterian
Church.
She was a life-long member
of Triumph Methodist
Church and for many years
a Sunday school teacher.
She was a tutor in the Illinois
Valley Community College
I-Read program. She
was a member of La Salle
County Farm Bureau and
very active in Kid's Klub.
She was a kind and compassionate
caregiver to her family
her entire life.
She is survived by one
son, James (Laurie) Thomson
of Utica; two daughters,
Mary Jo (Gary) Schmidt of
Strafford, Mo, and Linda
(Stanley) Zapf of Houston,
Texas; five grandchildren,
and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded by her
husband on Jan. 30, 1995,
two brothers and two sisters.
Memorials may be directed
to the donor's choice.
