Ina R. Carr, 88, formerly of Mendota, died Nov. 19, 2009 at the Dorchester Golden Living Center in Sturgeon Bay, Wis. with her daughter, Debbe, by her side.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Nov. 24 at the Merritt Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Morrell officiating. Burial was at Restland Cemetery, Mendota. Visitation was from 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Carr was born March 3, 1921 in Mendota to William Norman and Bessie Edwards. She married Donald Carr on Nov. 8, 1947. He preceded her in death. Survivors include two daughters, Debbe (Jim) Anderson of Washington Island, Wis. and Pat (Hal) Goebel of Tucson, Ariz.; one brother, Jim (Louise) Edwards of Aurora; two grandsons, Todd (Bridget) and Matt (Erin) Goebel; and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; three brothers, Harold, Dennis "Bud" and William; and one sister, Thelma LaPrise. Mrs. Carr worked for a number of years in the cafeterias at Northbrook School and Mendota High School. She was an early member of the Mendota VFW Auxiliary and was an avid bowler on the Elks women's league. She was a lifelong member of the Mendota Methodist Church and an active member of the Christian Women's Club. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the donor's favorite charity.
